Daily Reflection: Dec 22, 2009

1st Reading: 1 Samuel 1: 24-28
Gospel: Luke 1: 46-56

The first reading is about the prayer of a wife (Hannah) who is praying to have a child. God answered her and gave her Samuel. While the gospel is about the Song of Mary.

While Hannah can be attributed to her trust in the Lord and being generous of what was given to her. She offered her child to the Lord for she believes, the child belongs to the Lord since she asked for it. Mary on the other hand is obedient and believes what is said to her will became true.

Being humble is both emphasized in the readings today. The importance of prayer reminds us that God is around us and willing to guide and help us in whatever endeavor we want in this life.

The first reading and the gospel are connected in the sense that these readings are talking about giving birth. The hope that is with these two individuals given by God will change the people of the world. Their coming to the Earth influences us that it creates an everlasting memory and teachings.

2012

The film shows the disaster of the earth. Overall, it was a good film worth watching and its heart touching drama.

It was a good film which depicts the situation at the end times. The form of family that is depicted in the movie showed the current set up of families in the modern society. Even the power of those who has money.

The events that was shown in the movie is quite over that sometimes I think it was not realistic. Although the animation is good but the reality of the events might sometimes a matter of discussion.

Overall, I recommend to watch the movie. It was good.

I gave it 9 out of 10.

The Duchess

This film depicts the life of Georgiana, the duchess of Devonshire. She is the character being loved and captured the charisma of the masses. Her love of fashion and beauty made her an influential women of her time in the movie.

Behind all these, her longing for a love and care of man is contain in her. I can describe her experience as a woman desperately looking for real love.

It is one of the best movie I've seen.

Yanggaw: Another Point of View

I am supposed to summarized the movie before I will give you my comments but since I don't like the task of summarizing, I decided not to do it. I will give you my critique/comment/reaction of the movie after watching it. I want to watch the movie for the second time so that I can review it well but since I don't have the pleasure, I will leave it to other critique.

The movie is a good depiction of a rural lifestyle of a Filipino family. A typical family which can easily enjoy with little things and little oppurtunities in life. A good story/myth about the view of Filipino about witches has been presented in the movie similar to what I heard from my grandparents. The bamboo shoots relation to the witch season's attack, how the witch is actually infected and the witch doctor involvement and the questionable knowledge they know.

On the other hand, the movie must have been realistic if they emphasis on the news about the attack of the 'aswang' to the community. In fact, when someone died of questionable cause, especially what has been presented in the movie, one factor must considered to be the caused is aswang attack. The people in the movie don't have an opinion about this; instead they think it was the thief which is not enough reason for the evidence on the bodies of the victim.

I am not convince also that the aswang will attack her family members since the culture tells us that aswang does not attack even neighbor. That is supported by the saying "Maayo pa makasilingan ug aswang kay dili mangunay ug silingan kaysa kawatan."

The role of being a father and how he loves his family members and to keep them in his care is well presented in the movie. The actor itself is very well suited for the role. The heart of being a father and how it will handle things in this movie is too disturbing that instead of living in normal life, you will do things you've never done just to retain your family.

Enrollment Process in IIT - What's the problem?

I have been observing the enrollment process of MSU-IIT approximately 6 years of staying here in IIT. There are a lot of improvements in terms of automation as well as realization that makes the enrollment process short compared 8 years ago.

My writing today will focus on the problem during the enrollment.
1. Punctuality of People Involved. In general, one problem I observed during the enrollment is people involved in each process of the enrollment. Of course, excluding those who extends there work just to make the students feel as if the enrollment flow is fine and there are no missing people.
2. Lack of Planning. If planning is actually done before the enrollment I can say, it does not pass through thorough analysis and simulation. Example: I supposed that queue in the cashier is expected and the exit gate (entrance for vehicles) will be closed, but when I arrived in the morning first day of enrollment, there is no sign that the gate will be closed or even the chairs/huts outside the cashier is not yet assembled. I arrived around 8:30AM.
3. Lack of information and support for students. We cannot even see a visible information desk. Even the staff that is assigned in one process, for example assessment, does not know what's exactly is the next process and what are the requirements for each process. Except for those who's knowledgeable.
4. Students not cleared. Even though there are announcement that no clearance during enrollment period, there are still students who does not care for this. They will take care for there liabilities during the enrollment which sometimes disturb staff/faculty who is assigned a new task during the enrollment.
5. Students with INC or no grade. There are still faculty who cannot submit there grades on time. Some students also cannot complete the requirements of the course that is still trying to complete during the enrollment process.

These are some of the problems I think need to be address by the persons involved. We are trying to improve the enrolment through the use of technology but this will be nothing or less effective without the sense of responsibility of individuals.

Reasons of Having No Relationship

In our age (early and late 20's), marriage and relationships are very common. In fact, you will hear wedding of your neighbor, friends and mga kababayan mo na batch mo din. And here you are, wala man lang BF/GF. You might be thinking, Uh! Maiiwan na ako nito!

So I am sharing with you some situations where sometimes, we can never have a serious relationship:
1. You love/like the person that do not love/like you.
2. You love/like the person that loves someone.
3. You are so close that having a serious relatioship is difficult or complicated.
4. You don't like the person, that says he/she loves you.
5. You did not notice the people who actually care for you.

Think about it. But it's all about yourself, it is YOU who decided not to have one. Even your actions are saying it. You are only after of the things you like, never considering others. Even if you consider others, you tend to ignore them.

We must remember that in a relationship, it is about what you can offer. The same way, how you will sacrifice for the person that loves you, not for the sacrifice for what you want. Your feeling can always change, and looks is not the measurement of love.

Think of it.

So the third time I ride on it, I memorize saan lalabas, whether sa gitna or not. I decided to share it with you today. Usually super sikip ng MRT kaya you need to position somewhere na madali kang makalabas once you arrive at your destination.
I notice na lahat ng station starting with letter B and S ay nasa gitna ang labasan such Buendia, Boni and Shaw Boulevard. So I always reminded myself na ang station na nasa gitna ang labasan is BS.

Ganito Kami sa Makati.

I think you are familiar with the TV ad of Jojo Binay. The phrase "Ganito Kami sa Makati". Maybe, the assumptions are staying in Makati has a lot of benefits compared to other city. We might assume that Binay has manage well the City.

The idea came out of my mind when a friend of mine shared a story. The story goes like this. When a friend of mine bought something, she ask the vendor. "Ate, bakit ang mahal". Guess what was answer of the vendor? "Eh Makati kasi to." It reminds me of Jojo Binay. Ganyan pala sa Makati, everything is expensive where in fact, a few meters away, part of Pasay the same food you buy but much cheaper. For example: gulay at rice in Pasay is 20 pesos but when you are in Makati that is 35 pesos. Comparing the size of servings? Mas malaki pa ang 20 pesos kaysa 35 mo.

That's why, "Ganyan sila sa Makati."

Take note, inaantok ka na palagi pagkatapos kumain or gusto mo matulog pag may vacant time ka.

Switchyard, the Alternative

Kung mahilig ka sa tambay at inom ng konti, this article is for you. But if you know Harbour Square, sa likod banda ng CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines), you might know this bar.
Isa sa mga kaibigan namin ang pumunta ng Maynila to attend seminar/event sa UP. Sa bahay sya nakatira so, we find time to talk and of course bonding since we have not talked for almost five months. One of my friends who go with us suggests na doon sa Harbour Square.
We landed on Swichyard, the most affordable daw na inuman sa Harbour Square according to my friend. It was true, one bucket is around 168 pesos if I'm not mistaken. The place is just right for someone who wants to talk about their personal life and laugh sometimes.
One problem I experience at Harbour Square before is the CR (kasi pag inuman madalas akong maihi pagmedyo madami nang nainum). In this bar, I learned that pwede ka pala magpa tatak na your a customer of one of the bars their and libre na ang pag-ihi. Take note, 10 pesos per ihi doon.
So enjoy, punta kayo doon for a try.

"Ha!

The Period

I've been finding time lately to confirm someone close to me. I am preparing this for how many days, I mean, the choice of word, the appropriate time to tell him the way I give an end to an affair. I want to have a graceful exit because I don't want someone to be hurt. I am the type of person who can tell anybody the appropriate words even if it hurts. But not in this case, I'm trying to be sensitive on this matter because of this desperate person. Someone who is looking for comfort but never found one.

So I decided to talk to him in a bar, short talk. I cannot describe everything, but it was just like someone planned, for even the the environment go with my plan. It was perfect! It might be that someone who observed me may not understand what I did, but I can say it was good for us.

So I ended it with a period. I understand that just like a sentences relationship require a period. A sentence that ends with question mark requires an answer. An exclamation point might requires a reaction but a period may end in silence.

That was me... everything is clear and every party has an option.

Trip 2 Baguio (Bell Church)

This Chinese Temple reminds me of the Taoist Temple in Cebu City. The colors, structure and designs are almost the same.

What I did in the temple is that I tried to throw a coin to what they said wishing well. Obviously, I wished before I threw the coin aiming for one of the whole and, I did it. According to Borj, if the coin you threw shoots into one of the holes, your wish will come true. Of course I'm not the type of person to believe in this type of ..... joke? Hehehe...

5 Tips in Playing FarmTown

You might have encountered the post on the highest ROI lately posted by someone I do not know the real source. Here's some list of simple techniques that might help you in playing farm town.
1.When you play, especially when you plow or harvest. Play in up-down or right to left pattern. This is efficient compared to just clicking anywhere or from left to right or down up.
2. Always hide trees and buildings except when you want to see it. Sometimes, when you plow, you can still plow the part where you placed your building. Try that cheat.
3.When nothing to do, stay at the market. There is a possibility that you will be hired, that's an extra coins.
4.Uncheck the follow avatar while walking in the preferences. Don't ask the reason, just try it.
5.Check the data on how many points you can gain in buying something. Remember, those items are just for beautification of your farm.

Hope tt helps you improving your experience to be a farmer.

What I Hate in Playing Farm Town

Each of us have different preferences about anything in the world. Some might love to drink coke and others might be tea. You might be playing Farm Town (FT) and your friend on the other hand is Farm Ville.

Here are some of my observations that I hate everytime I am playing FT.

1. The message that will appear "...can only be planted on plowed fields." - where in fact all the square in my farm is already plowed. It's weaird.

2. My avatar just slide, instead of striding. I don't know why is this happening.

3. Do not know where's the way. We call this does not know the shortest path. Imagine, you just click the square almost beside the previous square but what the character will do is walking to a few blocks away before it will return to the block that you've clicked.

4. When you clear something, other square will be cleaned. - Although it has a confirmation message to clean what you supposed to select but still I have it if I accidentally press the yes button.

5. You bought a lot of useless things. You can gain experience points but HELLO those things are useless.

6. They gave 1000 experience points for mansion. You need not experience points at that time cause there is no level higher than 34.

These are only some of the Don't Like experience in playing Farm Town. So whats the summary. I ENJOY farm town, although I'm not that excited as of now.

Drunk

I was drunk last night. The first time I drink ''The Bar'. It tastes good but of course you will be drunk. This is also the first time that I went home even if I'm drunk. I am thankful that I was able to reach home safely.
Thanks to those who bought the gin/vodka/beer for us. It was still fan. It was also informative for I knew relationships. Thanks to the influence of alcohol, you will know some secrets of others and of course the trust of an acquaintance.
Good luck to them. I know, no relationships lasts like that especially if the starting point is, the bar.

Swine Flu Info Campaign - Scare or Aware?

It seems that everybody I know in La Salle that felt some symptoms of flu such as cough, running nose or some body ache, the expression is "My A(H1N1) na 'ata ako". Im usually smiled thinking how effective is the campaign of different institutions about this virus. Ordinary people here in the corner near our house seems scared everytime they heard of swine flu.

When my friend told me that he has A(h1n1) which is a joke. I told him, It's OK, the government will support your hospitalization and if you will die, at least you will be popular. (We assumed he will be the first to die - which will never happen.) But this will not happen anyway.

View at the Floor of our Boarding House

Everyday, this is what I am seeing. Overlooking the high rise (?) building of La Salle and the houses surrounding it which distracts its beauty. Rusty roof and dirty walls.

Somehow, it reminds me that I am fortunate enough for staying in the province than in this part of the city. My temporary stay here continues to support the idea that living in the province is much more enjoyable than this populated city. Maybe a different story if im staying in the Makati or some expensive condo.

Oatmeal and Banana

Oatmeal and banana - the usual breakfast that I have lately. I'm not satisfied with this kind of breakfast but since I don't have the passion to prepare what I want to eat, I force myself to like this breakfast. Thanks to mind setting, I like it now! hahahaha...

Today I will send money to my sister, again, for the birthday of her daughter. Sometimes you need to share your blessings although you need some too. Thanks God I have enough blessing.

I am supposed to take a picture of my breakfast today, but unfornately, my camera got out of battery. Hope I can edit this later for the picture.

My Bed

I'm here in Manila again. I am supposed to go back to my previous boarding but since my friend found a cheaper one, I go for it. I am now here in Lawin St., Malate, Manila. I do not like the environment of this house but because of its price, I can sacrifice my want.
Below are pictures of my bed. Just sharing it with you.

I occupied the upper side. Most of my friends don't like this location because you need to climb. On the other side I like this position because majority cannot reached my bed and they will not usually lie on it which is unlikely to happen if you are in the lower deck.
